Firefighter Killed While Loading Hose

A volunteer firefighter in Illinois was killed while picking up hose at the scene of a vehicle fire along an Interstate highway.

The incident occurred as a 43-year-old firefighter was loading hose into an apparatus after helping to extinguish a fire in a truck. An oncoming bus struck and killed him as he stood in the roadway.
