Ferrara Introduces the Inundator

Ferrara displayed its Inundator pumper at the Texas A&M Industrial Firefighting School in July. The pumper can deliver up to 3,000gpm from draft and can generate even higher flowrates through its three monitors and four large-diameter discharges.

The Inundator is built on Ferrara’s Igniter custom chassis with an extruded aluminum cab and body. The 1,000-gallon foam tank feeds a Hale 8FG midship pump and Williams Fire & Hazard Hot Shot II balanced pressure foam system. The plumbing is fabricated from stainless steel and features hinged left and right side pump panels and removable top-mount panels for service access.

Brad Williamson, industrial product manager at Ferrara Fire Apparatus, said the flow testing was quite a sight to behold. “The primary monitor is a Williams Fire & Hazard Ambassador, which has a flow capacity of 4,000gpm. The monitor is plumbed with an 8-inch valve and piping and is equipped with a wireless remote control device that allows the operator to seek a better vantage point when directing the stream. The Ambassador’s master stream will travel up to 450 feet.” In addition to the Williams Ambassador, there are two rear-mounted Akron StreamMaster monitors that each flow 1,500gpm. There are also four 5-inch discharges with 5-inch valves, one on each side panel and two at the rear.

Recent deliveries of industrial apparatus by Ferrara include Chevron Phillips Chemical, Baytown, Texas; Citgo Petroleum, Sulfur, La.; Eli Lilly, Indianapolis; Flint Hills Resources, Corpus Christi, Texas; Placid Refining, North Port Allen, La.; Union Carbide-Dow Chemical, Hahnville, La.; and Shell Petrochemical, Guangdong Province, China.
