Ferrara Unveils 85-Foot Platform

Ferrara’s new 85-foot mid-mount platform has an overall travel height under 10 feet 3 inches. This unit was delivered to Lawrence Cedarhurst (N.Y.) Fire Department.

Ferrara displayed its new HD-85 mid-mount aerial platform at Fire-Rescue International in Atlanta. The new aerial is designed to produce a vehicle with a short overall length and travel height.

The HD-85 features a five-section aerial, which reduces the truck’s overall length to only 43 feet 10 inches when specified with the Ferrara Inferno medium four-door cab and chassis. It has an overall travel height of less than 10 feet 3 inches to give it excellent clearance under low overpasses and through older station doors.

“Our new HD-85 aerial platform is the perfect compliment to our other aerial apparatus,” said Chris Ferrara, president and CEO of Ferrara Fire Apparatus. “Now our customers have four aerial platforms to choose from and can select the model that will best suit the demands of their response area.” Ferrara also offers a five-section 100-foot mid-mount, three-section 85-foot rear-mount and 100-foot rear-mount aerial platform.

The unit on display at the conference was ordered by Lawrence Cedarhurst Fire Department in New York. It was built on a Ferrara Inferno with a 62-inch extra-medium cab length. The HD-85 has a vertical rated reach of 85 feet at a 72-degree angle of elevation.
