Ferrara Gets Contract from Columbus

Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc. has been awarded orders for the first apparatus in a three-year custom-pumper contract by the Columbus (Ohio) Division of Fire. These will be the first Ferrara fire trucks for Columbus. Beyond the initial three years of the agreement, Columbus holds renewal options for a fourth and fifth year.

The pumpers will be built on custom tilt-cab chassis with independent front suspension and 525-hp Detroit Diesel Series 60 engines. The bodies are Ferrara’s Ultimate stainless-steel construction, featuring all 12-gauge body panels and 7-gauge tubular stainless-steel sub-frame. Columbus designed the custom compartments on the bodies, including an L-shaped booster tank for an extra-low hose bed.

In addition to the pumpers, Columbus also ordered an air service truck on a custom tilt-cab chassis with an extruded aluminum heavy rescue body from Ferrara. The air truck will have an eight-bottle cascade system with two refill stations and storage for spare SCBA cylinders.
