EVTCC Introduces Hydraulic Systems Exam

The Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification Commission will offer a new certification exam for technicians who work on fire apparatus hydraulic systems. Technicians can take the new exam at designated test sites starting June 3.

The new exam is known as F-8 Hydraulic Systems and will cover hydraulics used on aerial devices, ladder racks, generators, compressors and other devices. Technicians will be tested on fluid power theory, Pascal's Law, components, circuitry and system troubleshooting.

Learning objectives and a reference list for the new F-8 exam are available on the Internet at www.ectcc.org, or call the EVTCC office at 847-426-4075.
