National EVT Training Academy Adds Classes

The National EVT Training Academy, scheduled for May 15-19 in Daytona Beach, Fla., has added several classes, including important review courses for the EVTCC M-1 Management Level I exam and the ASE T-2 through T-8 medium/heavy truck exams.

The National EVT Training Academy is sponsored by the Florida Association of Emergency Vehicle Technicians. Over the years, the academy has grown to be one of the largest and most comprehensive EVT training events in the country.

The 2006 academy offers a choice of 35 different classes with up to 36 hours of instruction available per person. Classes include review sessions to help students prepare for the EVTCC exams for fire apparatus (F-series), ambulances (E-series) and ARFF vehicles (A-series). A four-day review class has been added this year to cover the materials on the new EVTCC first-level shop management exam (M-series) designed for shop leadmen and supervisors.

The academy also will offer a four-day series of review classes to cover the materials found on the ASE T-2 through T-8 exams for technicians who work on medium and heavy trucks. Passing both the EVTCC and the ASE exams are part of the requirements for certification as master-level emergency vehicle technicians, and the academy is the first training event to offer review classes on these important subjects.

Other classes include instruction on engines, pumps, multiplex electrical systems, hydraulic generators, foam systems and other topics. A banquet and product show are included as part of the registration fee.
