E-ONE Delivers First HP 100 Platform
Columbus (Ga.) Fire and EMS took delivery of the first E-ONE HP 100 aerial platform, just five months after the new 100-foot aerial design debuted at the 2007 Fire Department Instructors Conference.
“We were approved to buy a bucket truck and the City of Columbus and chief Jeff Meyer wanted the best truck out there for the citizens of Columbus, so that’s what we bought,” said Deputy Chief David Starling. “This truck was specifically designed for our department by the engineers at E-ONE to respond to firefighting, medical and rescue calls.”
Columbus’ new E-ONE platform boasts many innovative features including an all-new variable speed control system, which elevates and rotates quicker based on the platform position and delivers impeccable control.
The platform design features a total of 25.4 square feet with an interior working space of 18.9 square feet. Dual, inward-swinging doors on the 45-degree front angled corners of the platform provide 180-degree access to the scene and allow simultaneous transfer of personnel and equipment at three points for loading and unloading.
With a narrow 15.5-foot jack spread, the new platform requires less space for side-to-side setup while providing excellent platform performance. In operation, the platform provides a 100-foot vertical reach and 91.5-foot horizontal reach.
