CustomFIRE MetroFlex Offers Unique Features

The new MetroFlex pumper has a larger cab and many premium features to improve space, access and performance.

The MetroFlex pumper from Custom Fire Apparatus was designed to give firefighters more cab room, better pump access and a wider choice of pumps and pump panel locations. It features a stainless-steel body and an elevating monitor.

The MetroFlex is built on a Spartan Advantage chassis with a custom cab extension at the rear to provide significantly more interior space. The increased space allows room for an enclosed cabinet to carry tools and equipment where they are easy to access, but won’t fly around in case of an accident or sudden vehicle maneuver. When the cab is tilted forward, the cab extension tilts with it to give easy access to the pump and plumbing.

Outside, the MetroFlex design incorporates two removable speedlay hose beds under the cab extension to provide protection against the weather and allow easy reloading. The monitor is mounted on a telescoping extension that can be raised 100 inches above the body for accurate master stream placement in a full 360° circle both above and below horizontal.

According to the manufacturer, the MetroFlex design is available with side-mount, top-mount or rear-mount pump panel locations and a choice of any make and style pump. The demonstrator had a 1,500-gpm midship pump, single-agent foam system, 1,000-gallon water tank, and LED warning, marker and tail lights.
