The EVT Association of British Columbia launched a Web site earlier this year to provide information for its members.
The association was formed about three years ago and has grown to almost 60 members. It’s purpose is to facilitate training and promote educational processes for technicians who work on emergency vehicles within the province and surrounding area.
One of the key directions the association has taken is to support the Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification Commission program with training classes and testing opportunities. Association president Les Venables credits much of the recent growth of the association to this emphasis on helping technicians achieve EVT certification through the program, as well as the fact that employers support the ability of technicians to network in "their own backyard." The group has had two successful annual training conferences and looks forward to more. It is also working with local colleges and universities to offer similar training.
