American LaFrance Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

American LaFrance LLC filed for relief under Chapter 11 of the U.S. bankruptcy code on Jan. 28. At that time, the company stated it would continue to operate its manufacturing facilities and provide repair services.

As part of the Chapter 11 action, American LaFrance indicated it would file a reorganization plan. If approved, the reorganization would be completed in less than 90 days and would provide liquidity for ongoing operations. The company also planned to file motions to honor customer warranties and employee wages, among others, as well as honor its obligations to supply vehicles that are supported by performance bonds.
