FEMSA Announces Survey Winner

First Responder/Firefighter Justin MacDonald was at home when he filled out the Fire and Emergency Manufacturers and Services Association second annual online survey. Little did MacDonald know his name would be drawn to receive $5,000 worth of equipment for his fire department.

MacDonald didn’t believe it when FEMSA board member Roger Weinmeister called to tell him his name had been drawn to win $5,000 of equipment from FEMSA’s members. “My next call was to the chief,” said MacDonald, according to a FEMSA press release.

Fire Chief Mark Bogenschutz of the Egg Harbor (Wis.) Town & Village Fire Department couldn’t believe MacDonald’s good luck, but when the equipment was delivered this week, Bogenschutz and the department turned out.

Egg Harbor Town & Village Fire Department is an all-volunteer department with 41 members, crossover first responders, firefighters and EMTs. They respond to more than 80 calls a year, including assisting a local ambulance service.

With the winnings from the FEMSA survey contest, the department selected items from the W.S. Darley catalog, including two on-scene road signs, high-rise pack carriers, wildland firefighter suits, two CMC Rescue RIT packs and four CMC Rescue RIT lines, and Fire Research Corp. scene lights. Early this past spring the department proudly took delivery of a new 2006 Pierce 75-foot quint, so some of the equipment will be stored on the new truck.

“We chose items that would enhance our safety efforts in our department,” said Bogenschutz. “We thank FEMSA for the opportunity to participate in the survey and then be selected as winners.”
